HOUSE SLIPPERS, 2024
Laminate-casted slippers made with hemp and short-cotton paper pulp
Hand-pulled sheets of paper, made from beaten hemp and short-cotton paper pulp, were first painted with the perimeter shapes of my childhood floorplan (Perfect Plan, 19A) before being half-pressed and casted onto my house slippers.
These slippers are a household standard; they are one of the first items always packed by my mum whenever we travelled, and packed for me when I first moved countries. Cheap and easily disposable, each pair of slippers embodies transient memories of place, but have become enduring symbols that deliver safety to comfort to home.
